Mars after sunset 5/15/2016

This image was take May 15th 2016. Mars was view-able most of the evening. It was not cloudy but it was windy so it was hard to get a clear image. But considering this is not bad. Going to wait for the winds to calm down then I will try again.

Night Sky observing

Unknown to me my youngest daughter took a picture of me during my observing session. She is a pistol. ;) On this night I was able to view Jupiter and Galilean moons. Using a 2x barlow with my neximage 5 webcam I was able to take pictures of Jupiter and the Galilean moons, close ups of the moon and the Orion Nebula. Orion Nebula and the moon in the previous posts.

Orion Nebula

This picture was taken on 2/12/2016 @ 11:59 pm. It was taken using a Celestron NexStar 8 SE telescope with the NexImage 5 Webcam. Never thought I would be able to do this with a unmodified webcam since all the Web forums say this is not possible. The night I took this picture seeing wss exelent and there were no clouds at all transparency was also excellent I'm sure if I was in a darker location and not near city lights this photo would have been a lot better. You really can do a lot with an 8 inch scope. I think this size scope is the sweet spot. Free applications are used to process was ist regi stacks and Paint Shop Pro 7.
