Blood Moon 4/4/2015

This photo was taken Saturday morning. The full moon nearly always appears coppery red during a total lunar eclipse. That’s because the dispersed light from all the Earth’s sunrises and sunsets falls on the face of the moon at mid-eclipse. Thus the term blood moon can be and probably is applied to any and all total lunar eclipses.

Jupiter's Galilean Moons

I took this photo using the NexStar 8SE telescope along with the NexImage 5. The software used was iCap and I configured it to use 4x binning. Using 4x binning gives a larger capture view when recording the video. The photo shows all 4 Galilean Moons. The moons starting out from Jupiter are Europa, Ganymede, Callisto and IO. Galileo Galilei discovered the moons in 1610 and were the first objects found to orbit a body that was neither Earth nor the Sun.

Sirius the brightest star in the sky

Sirius is the brightest star in the Earth's night sky. With a visual apparent magnitude of −1.46, it is almost twice as bright as Canopus, the next brightest star. The name "Sirius" is derived from the Ancient Greek: Σείριος Seirios. Sirius is one of the nearest stars to us after the sun.

Mintaka Star & Mintaka B

Mintaka is a star some 916 light years distant^[4] in the constellation Orion. It has a Bayer designation of Delta Orionis (δ Ori) and a Flamsteed designation of 34 Orionis. The name Mintaka comes from منطقة manṭaqa, which means "the belt" in Arabic.^[5] Together with Alnitak (Zeta Orionis) and Alnilam (Epsilon Orionis), the three stars make up the belt of Orion, known by many names among ancient cultures. When Orion is close to the meridian, Mintaka is the right-most of the belt's stars as seen by an observer in the Northern Hemisphere facing south.

Mintaka B is the bright star you see above Mintaka it is a Spectral class: B4 and its Visual magnitude is 6.8

Another attempt at Jupiter

I took a few videos of Jupiter in black and white in about 2 hours. The processing only took like 5 minutes for this image. Looks clear and shows a little more detail than the others.

This is another image from March 9th 2015. I processed this image and tried to show more detail and brighter.

It was a clear night so I tried to image Jupiter again and it looks better than the first time. You see some color.

Rigel with companion star on its shoulder

It was a really clear night but I was to tired to setup my scope so I just sat in my back yard with my camera and took a few shots. This one came out the best considering it was a full worm moon. Native American tribes as the Full Worm Moon because this was the time of year when the ground would begin to soften and the earthworms would reappear. This picture shows Rigel and a companion star on its left shoulder.

Light seen in the NorthEast Sky from Peoria Arizona

I took this shot from my backyard on the morning of 02/25/15 at exactly 6am. Just found out this was due to military testing.  Reports starting to appear in the news.

My First image of Jupiter

This is my first try at imaging Jupiter. The seeing conditions were not very good so this was the best that I could do.

HDR images Orion's Belt and the Moon

It was a clear night and the moon was full so I decided to just use my canon PowerShot SX20IS to take 3 different exposures and create an HDR photo. I used PaintShop Pro X7 to merge the images and create it. The following are the results of taking 3 different sets, 2 of the moon and 1 of Orion's Belt.

I took these photos with my cell phone in October. I was kind of anxious to take a photo. My next photos I will be using the NexImage 5 web cam.
